About
the CU
Since 1953, SOFCU has
been fulfilling its mission as a non-profit, volunteer-directed,
member-owned financial institution, providing value to its members
through programs like Amplify.
The vision of Walter B. Nelson, a Grants Pass High School teacher,
and six fellow teachers, SOFCU started life as Josephine County
Teachers Federal Credit Union. This is where SOFCU's values of
educating its members were born.
Those roots ingrain an attitude
toward taking care of members and providing exceptional service
at every opportunity. It was a key element of our culture back
then and remains the cornerstone of our credit union today.
Operating ten branches in Josephine, Jackson, Douglas, Deschutes,
Coos, Lane, and Klamath counties, we gladly serve over 33,000 members.
And counting. Become a SOFCU member.
What's a credit union?
A credit union is a member-owned
and directed financial cooperative, organized to serve its members.
Credit unions are also non-profits, which means that any excess
funds are returned to members in lower interest rates on loans,
higher dividends on savings, and expanded services.
By becoming a SOFCU member, you're not just getting lower
loan rates, higher paying savings, and a variety of convenient
services at little or no cost. You'll be treated to the kind of
personal attention and concern for your financial well-being you're
not likely to find at a bank.
You'll feel like you're a part of
something special, because you are. Members are all equal owners
in the credit union. Every decision made, every service offered
is for your benefit. That's the credit union difference.
